Freestanding fireplaces can be considered heavy, fixed furniture. Parquetvinyl should therefore not be placed under it, but around it. Because of the heat development, it is best to place the fireplace on a refractory material, such as a large ceramic tile, natural stone or a metal plate.

With open fireplaces, a grate or glass plate should be placed in front of the fireplace to prevent any glowing embers from landing on the floor.Parquet vinyl may score well on the 'burning cigarette test' but an ember is hotter and burns longer than a cigarette. Also here, better safe than sorry.
